Cunard Line Queen Mary 2 Sailing From New York in 2015
With an eye towards the company’s 175th anniversary in 2015, Cunard Line is excited to announce its 2015-2016 Voyages Program.   The program includes 15 commemorative cruises and events that will pay homage to Cunard’s significant historical moments, as well as unique voyages in the Mediterranean and iconic adventures around the world that will satisfy any globetrotter’s wanderlust.

“We believe that our program for 2015, our 175th anniversary year, is one of the best and most extensive Cunard has ever offered,” said David Dingle, CEO of Cunard Line.  “We have listened to our passengers and we will be visiting even more celebrated and iconic destinations along with less familiar but equally alluring places, and we’ll offer longer stays in port.”

Dingle continued, “Combined with our series of news-making celebratory cruises for our 175th anniversary, Cunard is the outstanding cruise choice for 2015 aboard the finest ships of their class.”

The 2015-2016 Voyages Programme goes on sale 8 April 2014, with Pre-Registration beginning 20 March 2014, 6:00 a.m. PT (9:00 a.m. ET).

175th Anniversary Highlights
Cunard will kick off its milestone anniversary with 15 highly anticipated sailings that will give loyal and new Cunarders exciting opportunities to experience luxury ocean travel aboard the Line’s majestic ships – flagship Queen Mary 2, Queen Victoria and Queen Elizabeth.
.
To start these momentous celebrations, all three Queens will meet in Southampton on 3 May 2015.  This Cunard Royal Rendezvous will be followed by a “Liverpool Salute” with the unprecedented sight of all three Queens together on 25 May at the Line’s birthplace – the first time the entire fleet will have been together on the River Mersey.
Voyage options corresponding to this spectacular event are:
  • Queen Mary 2
    • Eastbound Transatlantic Crossing & British Isles, 10 May 2015 – 17 days, New York to Southampton.  Fares start from $3,348.
    • Grand Transatlantic Crossing & Liverpool Salute, 10 May 2015 – 24 days, roundtrip New York.  Fares start from $4,497.
    • British Isles & Liverpool Salute, 17 May 2015 – 10 days, roundtrip Southampton.  Fares start from $2,199.  A 17-day option includes a Westbound Transatlantic Crossing to New York. Fares starting from $3,348.

  • Queen Victoria
    • Liverpool Salute, 22 May 2015 – six days, roundtrip Southampton.  Fares start from $1,199.
Queen Victoria will call at Cobh on 7 May 2015 to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the sinking of Lusitania – a poignant journey that will include ceremonies at the town’s memorial to mark this significant date in Cunard’s history.   A special tribute will be paid to the Cunard men and 22 ships that were lost in the First World War.  The seven-day Lusitania Remembered sailing departs roundtrip Southampton on 3 May 2015. Fares start from $1,399 per person.
The commemorations will continue in true Cunard style with The Original Transatlantic Crossing when Queen Mary 2 echoes the very first Crossing.  For the 12-day, 2 July 2015 voyage departing from Southampton to New York, the flagship ship will leave Liverpool on 4 July – 175 years to the day after Cunard’s first ship, Britannia, began her journey – and will follow Britannia’s original route westbound to Halifax, then on to Boston.  Fares for this voyage start from $2,599.  Other Transatlantic Crossing options include:

Master and Commander: Cunard Captures Dramatic Images of Captain Standing Beneath Soaring Hull of Queen Mary 2 off Bali Coast

Captain on Bow of Cunard's Queen Mary 2
Captain on Bulbous Bow of Cunard's Queen Mary 2

In early March, Cunard captured dramatic photographs of Captain Kevin Oprey, Master of Queen Mary 2, standing beneath the flagship’s soaring hull a mile off the coast of Bali during the ship's World Cruise in her 10th anniversary year.

The amazing images by James Morgan show Captain Oprey surveying the scene from the top of Queen Mary 2's bulbous bow, an underwater projection that minimizes the creation of bow waves around the waterline when the ship is under way.  Two safety craft were standing by during the photo shoot, but Captain Oprey remained sure-footed throughout.

As she continues on her 2014 World Cruise, Queen Mary 2 will make her 10th port of call at Sydney on Friday 14 March after circumnavigating Australia.  She will then head north towards Shanghai, Hong Kong, Ho Chi Minh City, Bangkok and Singapore before turning west for Sri Lanka and Dubai. Next, she will enter the Mediterranean through the Suez Canal and return to Southampton, England, on 9 May to mark her 10th anniversary of becoming Cunard's magnificent flagship.  Sister ships Queen Elizabeth and Queen Victoria will join in the exuberant celebrations.

At 151,200 tons, Queen Mary 2 is the largest and most expensive ocean liner ever built, accommodating 2,620 passengers and 1,253 crew.  In her first 10 years of service, following a spectacular naming by Her Majesty The Queen on 8 January 2004, Queen Mary 2 has undertaken more than 420 voyages, including over 200 Transatlantic Crossings, and has called at 182 ports in 60 countries.

She remains the longest, tallest, widest ocean liner ever built, as well as being the most famous and fastest passenger ship in operation today.

Carnival Splendor is stocked with a selection of classic Dr. Seuss books, toys and games and is hosting special showings of beloved movies such as “The Cat in the Hat” on the giant outdoor Dive-In Movies screen.
“We’re delighted to debut the Seuss at Sea program on Carnival Splendor which is sure to amuse and delight kids of all ages while providing parents and their children an opportunity to participate in fun and playful activities together as a family,” said Gerry Cahill, Carnival president and CEO.  “In addition to providing a wonderful environment for quality family time, Seuss at Sea arms travel agents with yet another effective marketing tool for enticing families to set sail aboard the ‘Fun Ships,’” he added.
“Quality family time is more important than ever in today’s ‘always on’ society and we’re very excited to debut the first Seuss at Sea program which brings the wonderful world of Dr. Seuss to thousands of families sailing aboard the Carnival Splendor,” said Susan Brandt, president of Dr. Seuss Enterprises. “We can’t wait to work with our partners at Carnival to create even more magical memories for families as we roll out the Seuss at Sea experience to additional ships across Carnival’s fleet.”
Fleetwide roll out of Seuss at Sea is expected by 2015 and the program will also be featured on the new Carnival Vista which is set to debut in 2016.
