Disney Cruise Line Not Returning to New York in 2013/2014

The spring, summer and fall of 2012, Disney Cruise Line sailed the Disney Magic out of New York on 4 Day Cruises to New England/Canada; 2 Day Cruises to Nowhere and 8-Day Florida / Bahamas Cruises.

It appears that Disney has abandoned New York for the forseeable future. In 2013 the Disney Magic will sail in Europe and in 2014 it is unclear - but it does not appear NY is in the cards.

Stay tuned here - if the situation changes - we will let you know.

After completing her last Canada cruise, Disney Cruise Line's Disney Magic left New York today (9/17) for what could be the last time.

The Disney Magic left the Manhattan Cruise Terminal at 1:15 PM en-route for Galveston, Texas. Sailing under the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge at 2:15 PM, the ship left New York without passenger and is expected to arrive in the Texas city on September 22.

From Galveston, the Disney Magic will sail to Florida and the Bahamas (8 Days) or Grand Caymen and Mexico (7 Days).

Disney Cruise Line has opted to place the Disney Magic in Europe for the Summer of 2013.

On May 25th, Disney Cruise Line’s flagship vessel, the Disney Magic, arrived in New York Harbor donning the world’s largest bumper sticker. Usually found on the back of family minivans, the 50-foot-long by 11-foot-wide super-sized sticker is larger than a city bus. The ship  departed later that afternoon, marking the beginning of Disney’s first-ever consumer sailings out of Manhattan – allowing local residents to experience a Disney vacation in their own backyard.
